A band called Tivra, formed in Shimla in 2017 has created a sensation among Himachali community by introducing Mashup of Himachali folk songs from different dialects. After the great success of Kangra-Chamba Folk Mashup, this time Tivra Band came up with Kulluvi Folk Mashup.
Introduced the concept of Himachali Folk Mashup
Tivra was started by Aditya Thakur and Siddharth Verma the students of HP University doing master’s in degree in Tourism. Aditya Thakur who belongs to Bir-Billing a place well known for Paragliding, is the vocalist of the band and also pen down the lyrics for their compositions. While Siddharth who hails from Kullu district of Himachal, looks after the music compositions and arrangements.
While talking to Pahari Cinema, Aditya Thakur stated that they are working on the folk songs based on marriage traditions and will come up with a new Mashup soon. Himachal being a neighbouring state of Punjab, the influence of Punjabi music among Himachali singers force them to compose the music as well. Even Tivra isn’t untouched by the Punjabi influence and they are also looking forward to release their Punjabi song soon as well.
After Laman Band, who has created a mark in Himachali Folk, Tivra has also created a different audience for their different style to present the Himachali Folk Music. Aditya and Siddharth have dreamt to take forward the Himachali folk to the world level and our team wishes a grand success for their venture.
