“Under The Sky” is a Children’s film, Written and Directed by Ahsan Bakhsh a prominent filmmaker from Uttarakhand.
It is a story about a 12 year old boy Gopi who lives in a small village around the borders of India and Nepal. The villagers are marinated in superstitions. His father is a black magic expert and wants Gopi to follow in his footsteps. But Gopi’s grandfather emphasizes the importance of the scientific and practical approach. Gopi’s thoughts incline toward his grandfather’s logical outlook. The war between science and superstition is shown through Gopi’s dealings with his father and friends. But when one of Gopi’s loved ones bears the stress of superstitious faith, Gopi’s logical reasoning and scientific approach are put to the test.
The film has been nominated in several film festival nationally as well internationally. It was nominted at the Sharjah International Film Festival in 2014.
Ahsan Bakhsh is an Indian actor, screenwriter and director. He is graduated from the National School of Drama in New Delhi.
Prior to this children’s film, Ahsan Bakhsh has directed a short film called “Aakhiri Munadi” which has been praised and admired at various International film festivals. Ahsan has also acted in films like “Mangal Pandey”, “Billu Barber”, “Paap” and “Jai Santoshi Ma”.
He has worked in film and theater for a long time. He won a scholarship to research Himalayan folk art. He has made a documentary film devoted to folk art and water issues of the Uttarakhand province.
